October 1, 2022 Luncheon - Finn Eirik Modahl
Finn Eirik Modahl is a Norwegian conceptual visual artist. His work includes major sculpture projects in Norway and Europe, installations, music, film, temporary art, performance, and two critically acclaimed theater plays. Modahl believes that “art should be a brain and heart starter” and creates artworks in which the dynamic between the work and people is greater than the sum of the individual parts. Although his art is based on long traditions, history, and theory, he makes art for the people, and this is reflected in the way his sculptures are embraced and used by their audiences.
During the presentation Modahl will present on his work, as well as give a sneak peek into the public art sculpture project that he has been commissioned to create for Norway House's new expansion. The project is inspired by a "sister" sculpture in Sotra, Norway (just outside of Bergen) and is designed to reflect upon—and honor—the historical and contemporary connections between Norway and the United States.
