Welcome to Lakselaget!

Lakselaget is made up of a vibrant group of professional women who are interested in contemporary Norwegian issues and all things Norwegian.

Lakselaget offers scholarships to Norwegian students who wish to study in Minnesota or the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks or Minnesotans desiring to study in Norway. It is also open to providing grants to Minnesota professional women who have the opportunity to intern in Norway and, of course, to Norwegians interning in Minnesota. The grants are meant to supplement wages lost for experience gained. Learn more under Who We Are and Foundation and Scholarship Info.

We look forward to a presentation from Lakselaget member Dr. Kathi Tunheim. Kathi is currently serving as the Vice-President for Mission, Strategy and Innovation at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. She founded three distinguished student/alumni organizations at Gustavus: Gustavus Mentoring Program, the Gustie Entrepreneur Cup and Gustavus Women in Leadership. The mission of Gustavus Women in Leadership is to inspire all women to advocate for themselves, live purposeful lives and create opportunities for future generations. Kathi will share why she founded this organization and will bring a panel of three young women alumni. They will discuss how this unique leadership development opportunity helped them in their professional careers and personal lives.

April is also the month when we invite our male friends to attend the meeting! Please make sure to register your guests of all genders in advance!

And finally, April is our Silent Auction to raise money for our Scholarship Fund. Last year we auctioned just 20 items representing each of Lakselaget’s 20 year. We are looking for donations such as event tickets (sports, theater, concert, museum, etc.), experiential items (classes or lessons, rounds of golf, wine or cider tasting), gift certificates, or new Scandinavian items. Please reach out to Bren Schauf if you have items you would like to donate to the auction at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
